Accent On Appearances Is Now An Aveda Salon!

We are very excited to announce that we have gone AVEDA at Accent on Appearances! As professional hairstylists, we have always been concerned about exposure to certain chemical ingredients in the products we use in the salon & recommend to our clients for home maintenance between visits. In recent years as more information has become available to us, our concerns have grown. Here at AOA over the past several years, we had already chosen to switch to products that are eco friendly, health conscious & safe for our clients, ourselves and our planet.
What difference can a brush make?

When I open my drawer & clients see my large collection of hairbrushes I am often asked why I have so many different types of brushes. They seem to be a little surprised when I tell them each has a purpose and that I will use a different brush depending on the length or density of their hair as well as how they like to wear their hair. I always educate my clients on which brush I am using, how to use the brush when they do their hair at home & why I choose this brush to style their hair.
Why Box-Color Ultimately Costs More Than You Think.

When you consider purchasing a “do it yourself box color” at the store, here’s some points to consider. Box color is typically formulated at a 30 or 40 Volume strength. Professionals in salons usually only use 10 or 20 Volume strength to achieve the desired results. When you apply strengths of 30 or 40 Volume like what is in a box color, you end up with far more damage and dryness than what is necessary.
